Karachi, November 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said specific environment was needed in any city or country for investment. The investors make rapid investment in a country which had its own sea port, air and land routes and Pakistan was counted in such countries which had all these things.
He said this while talking to a delegation from JICA Japan which called on him in his office. The D.G Technical Services, Sr. Director T and C and other officers were also present on this occasion. The JICA delegation presented the study report to Administrator Karachi on the construction of Mehran Highway.
They said that Government of Japan and JICA would like to invest in many Karachi Projects including circular railway, bus rapid system, infrastructure development and heavy machinery and vehicle manufacturing.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion said the technical support provided by JICA was a classic example of Pak Japan friendship. Japan was providing great technical and financial cooperation in Karachi projects and we should proud this friendship.
He said a modern bus rapid system on two corridors of city was being considered under Karachi Transportation Improvement Plan with the cooperation from JICA. Administrator Karachi said developing infrastructure in Karachi would mean providing more job opportunities to people with the establishment of more industrial and commercial units in the city.
He said the first phase of Mehran Highway had been completed with a cost of Rs570million under cooperation from JICA and the second phase being started also. He thanked JICA for providing cooperation in the construction of Mehran Highway and called this a good omen for the city.
