Islamabad: Islamabad Police have introduced `Security Neighbourhood System’ in various residential sectors with an aim to curb robbery or theft activities besides focus on vigilant and effective policing to curb such nature of crime.
According to details, this security alarm system has been installed in the houses at sectors G-10 and G-11 during the initial phase and it would be further expanded to other residential areas and sectors.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, in a meeting held here, has also directed Station House Officers of all police stations to give awareness to the citizens about the advantages of this system and get installed it in their respective areas within 15 days through massive interaction with people through various teams.
He has asked all SHOs to get install this `Security Neighbourhood System’ through the cooperation of citizens to curb robbery and theft incidents.
According to this system, special bells will be installed in the houses of neighbours and a `common button’ resembling with electric buttons will be installed in walls or any other accessible position of houses.
In case of any problem or emergency to the neighbours, button will be pushed to intimate the other neighbour about the problematic situation in the particular house. Neighbours may rush to that house to assist inmates in their problems.
During the meeting, IGP Bani Amin Khan has directed all police officials to take further effective steps to control crime in the city and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
He also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police in ensuring foolproof security arrangements during Muharram ul Haram. The meeting was also attended among others by SSP (Headquarters) Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, SSP (Traffic) Dr. Moeen Masood SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, all four SPs, all Sub- divisional Police Officers, In-Charge ACLC, and CIA as well as Station House Officers.
He announced to award commendation certificates to SPs, SDPOs, all SHOs and other officials who accomplished the task of elaborate security during Muharram ul Haram through hard work. He also appreciated the performance of Islamabad Traffic Police which diverted traffic on alternate routes during Muharram processions and worked hard for convenience to road users.
The IGP directed the police officials to be polite with their staff and brief those deputed at the police pickets to keep them alert to avoid any untoward incident. He also asked to take welfare steps for policemen especially those performing duties at police pickets during night.
He said that corrupt elements bringing bad name to the department will not be spared and urged all police officials to serve humanity. “Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion,” the IGP maintained.
