Baku, May 03, 2015 (PPI-OT): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar called met H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of Republic of Azerbaijan at Zalguba Palace in Baku. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The two leaders expressed satisfaction on the bilateral relations that so happily exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. They also exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests.
Recalling the recent visit of President of Pakistan to Azerbaijan (11-14 March, 2015) the two leaders agreed that signing of Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership has set a new direction for promoting multi-dimensional bilateral cooperation between our two brotherly countries including in political, economic, trade and commerce, defence, science and technology, education, art and culture spheres. In order to achieve tangible results both leaders emphasized on the implementation and follow up on the agreed areas of cooperation.
The Finance Minister apprised President Ilham about the macro-economic measures undertaken by Pakistan, explained the development strategy and “peaceful neighbourhood” policy of the Government of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan H.E. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Appreciating mutual support on the political causes of the two countries, the two leaders agreed to work together to seek the resolution of Nogorno Karabakh conflict and Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Resolutions and norms of justice.
The meeting helped strengthening bilateral relations, furthering closeness at the leadership level and in speeding up the process of under consideration areas/projects of bilateral cooperation. Pakistan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Khalid Usman Qaiser and Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Dashgin Shikarov were also present in the meeting.
