Iqbal Pakwala hails reconciliation efforts of President resulting in peaceful conclusion of long march

Islamabad, January 21, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mr. Iqbal Dawood Pakwala, Acting President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in a press statement has lauded the reconciliation efforts put in by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan resulting in peaceful conclusion of long march after 4 days by signing an agreement with Dr. Tahirul Qadri, Chief of the Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran.

The FPCCI Acting Chief added that the agreement reflects the wisdom and positive intention of the Pakistan’s President to keep great harmony among all cross sections of the country and to find peaceful political solutions of all the disputes through dialogue.

Mr. Iqbal Dawood Pakwala said that the settlement would help further improve image of democracy and democratic process in Pakistan and resumption of economic activities in the country as evident from the fact that Stock Exchange market index, with an increase of 311 points reached to the tune of 16,602 point within one day on January 18, 2013. He was of the view that political stability is a pre-requisite for economic growth and development of the country in the prevailing global scenario to offset the future fiscal challenges.

He also hailed the Government delegation which was led by Ch Shujat Hussain, President of PML (Q) for having a constructive negotiation with Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran Chief which led to end of the long march with amicable atmosphere and reconciliatory spirit.

He also stressed the Government to proactively deal with the ongoing power and gas crisis and other issues to avert industrial closures and resultant economic downturn.
