IOK shuts against Indian repressive measures

Srinagar, October 18, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed against the killings, arrests under draconian law Public Safety Act, destruction of houses, harassment of students, attack on journalists and all other measures of repression unleashed by Indian forces in the territory.

Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops, other business establishments and educational institutions are closed while traffic is off the road. The authorities have suspended internet and mobile services in different areas of the Kashmir Valley.

Stringent measures have been taken by the authorities in Srinagar and other parts of the valley in the name of security to prevent anti-India protests. The JRL in a statement expressed deep anguish over the killing of three youth Meraj-ud-Din Bangroo, Fahd Mushtaq Waza and Rayees Ahmed in a house destroyed by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar on Wednesday.
