IOK shut to remember martyrs of 13th July 1931

Srinagar, July 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the 22 Kashmiris who were shot dead by the Indian Dogra Forces in Srinagar on this day in 1931. Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road.

On 13th July in 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.

Meanwhile, occupation authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar, today, to prevent people from conducting a march towards Naqshband Sahib where the martyrs of 13th July are buried. The authorities also arrested Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and put Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Zafar Akbar Butt, Umar Aadil Dar and other Hurriyat leaders under house arrest or in custody to prevent them from leading the march.
