Srinagar, March 23, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders and organizations have strongly denounced the puppet administration for imposing curbs on the resistance leaders to prevent them from attending the Pakistan Day function in New Delhi terming the action as frustration of the authorities.
Pakistani High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit, had invited the Hurriyet leaders to attend the 23rd March function at the High Commission. However, the occupation authorities put the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Umar Aadil Dar and Shahid-ul-Islam either under house arrest or in custody to stop them from visiting New Delhi.
The APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that puppet administration’s decision to stop resistance leaders from attending the Pakistan Day function was nothing but frustration of the authorities. “On one hand, the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi claim that they believe in democracy and in the institution of dialogue, but on the other, all the tall claims fall flat when they place the entire resistance leadership under detention and don’t allow it to be a part of Pakistan Day celebrations,” he said.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in an interview said that such repressive measures were senseless. “These only aggravate the situation and lead to further hardening of positions,” he said, adding, “The reality that Pakistan is a party to Kashmir dispute will not alter by barring us from attending a function; nor will Pakistan’s diplomatic and moral support to our political aspirations stop this way.”
Shabbir Ahmed Shah said that whenever he tried to attend the Pakistan Day function, he was prevented. “Even when I managed to reach Delhi, I was taken into custody there,” he said. He said, Pakistan is a party to the Kashmir dispute and its support on moral and diplomatic fronts has always encouraged Kashmiris to seek a just resolution of the dispute.
Altaf Ahmed Shah said that the authorities’ action was aimed at choking space for the pro-freedom leaders. “Such occasions would give us an opportunity to discus or exchange ideas. Our passports already stand cancelled and our chances of discussing ideas at the international fora are impossible. The move indicates that everything in Kashmir takes places on New Delhi’s dictation. The move to deny space to Hurriyet leaders deserves all condemnation,” he said.
Hurriyet leader, Engineer Hilal Ahmed War, while slamming the puppet regime’s decision termed it as an ill-conceived move. “By disallowing us, Delhi is choking ways and means aimed at finding a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute,” he said.
Another Hurriyet leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, strongly condemned the puppet authorities for detaining the entire resistance leadership. He pointed out that basically, PDP-BJP regime was all out to implement RSS agenda in the territory.
