IOK people asked not to become part of cultural aggression

Srinagar, December 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the Kashmiris have always upheld rich cultural traditions and moral values like politeness, brotherhood and modesty throughout their history. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Whatever is being thrust upon us in the name of New Year celebrations has nothing to do with our rich social values and traditions. It is just cultural aggression aimed at detaching us from our religion, society, freedom movement and our rich past.” He urged people, especially youth, not to participate in the celebrations.

“Islam, being the religion of nature, doesn’t oppose or ban excursions, but everything in the universe has limits, and Muslims should not cross those limits.” He said that the western culture was being rejected by even the westerners. “This so-called modern civilisation has destroyed the social set-up of man and has reduced him to the level of an animal. The western people are running away from their wild civilisation, taking refuge in Islam, but some cheap people are still copying them,” he added.
