Srinagar, July 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) of occupied Kashmir has urged the United Nations to implant its Kashmir resolutions. The spokesman of Bar Association in a statement in Srinagar condemned the Government of India’s move to close down the office of UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan in New Delhi.
He said that in the resolution of United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan dated August 13, 1948, it was decided that the commission would appoint military observers, who under the authority of the commission, would supervise the ceasefire order requiring the High Commands of India and Pakistan forces to implement a ceasefire and refrain from taking any measures that might augment the military potential of the forces under their control in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that both the governments, while accepting the ceasefire order, reaffirmed their wish that the future status of Jammu and Kashmir would be determined in accordance with the will of the people.
The spokesman said, “The United Nations in its letter of clarification to the Pakistan Representative on September 3, 1948, reaffirmed that according to its resolution, United Nations neutral military observer will be posted on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) with the object of ensuring that conditions of truce are adhered to and in case of a breach of any of the conditions a report will be made to the commission, which on its satisfaction will call upon the authorities to take the desired action.”
