Srinagar, August 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have denied passport to a civilian and his son from Srinagar giving reason that one of their relatives was involved in militancy-related activities during 1995.
Ghulam Nabi Malik, a resident of Kralkhud told a media men that the authorities had issued passport (J7214834) in his favour for two years and now the authorities were neither willing to extend his passport nor ready to issue a new passport to his son, Arif Muhammad.
“The authorities told me that my uncle, Manzoor Ahmed Malik was involved in militancy-related activities and we could not be issued passport. How the police and CID could do this while the fact is that my uncle who was arrested in 1995 for his ‘involvement’ in militancy was declared innocent and released by a TADA court?” Ghulam Nabi asked.
Ghulam Nabi, who is a retired government employee, said that he along with his wife and son wanted to perform Hajj but the dogmatic approach on part of the authorities ruined their wish.
