Rawalpindi, July 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): Rawalpindi Arts Council in collaboration with International Islamic University Islamabad organized International Qiraat Competition in connection with the sacred month of Ramadan here on Monday.
Prof. Dr Habibur Rehman Asim, Dean, Faculty of Arabic, International Islamic University was the guest of honor of the ceremony while Prof. Dr Munawar Gondal, Dean, Faculty of Language and Literature and Waqar Ahmed Resident Director RAC were also present on the occasion.
Young Qaris from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Thailand, Somalia and Pakistan participated in the competition.
Qaris of International fame, Qari Bazurg Shah, Qari Dr Taj Afsar and Qari Dil Nawaz were appointed as judges for the competition while Muhamamd Zulqarnain was the compare of the event. The competition was divided into two categories. The first category was Inter-Madaris Qiraat Competition in which Qari Zeeshan Hyder secured first, Qari Muhammad Ismael got second, Khabib Anwar got third and Qari Saeed Ahmed succeeded in securing fourth position.
In the second category of International Qiraat Competition, Qari Lutaf Ullah from Pakistan got first, Qari Abdul Rehman from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia secured second; Qari Muhammad Muzamil remained third while Qari Arfaeen Zaeed got fourth position.
After prize distribution ceremony, Prof. Dr Habibur Rehman Asim, Dean, Faculty of Arabic, International Islamic University said that the Quran, which is the constitution of the Muslim nation, brought about revolutionary changes in Muslim ummah and teachings of Holy Quran are best panacea for all crisis in present situation. He said that Allah could spread Quran through its angles but HE chose man because man is the best creature of the universe.
Prof. Dr Munawar Gondal, Dean, Faculty of Language and Literature said, “As the Prophet affirmed that the best of us are those who both learn the Quran and teach it to others, the ‘people of the Quran’ rank different as per their recitation, comprehension and implementation of the Quran, and interaction with its teachings.”
Waqar Ahmed Resident Director RAC said, “The Quran, with its indefinite wonders, is the only holy book preserved by Allah Himself from corruption and distortion. It comprises Allah’s exact words, not narrated by apostles, for the good and happiness of all mankind in life and hereafter,” he explained.
