Rawalpindi: 3 days long International Conference on Advanced Modelling and Simulation was held in College of EME Campus of National University of Sciences and Technology. The event was aimed at bringing together researchers, academics and industrialist who are using modelling and simulation for wide range of activities spanning various disciplines.
Speaking on the opening day, the Chief Guest, Major General Muhammad Shahid Commandant College of EME, appreciated the organizers of the conference and stressed the importance of having more such events to help in national development.
He remarked that modelling and simulation has become a core tool for all disciplines including engineering sciences, social sciences and biological sciences. He also emphasized that with the help of modelling and simulation the cost of new product development can be minimized substantially which can give our industries a competitive edge over the rivals.
Earlier Conference Chair Professor Afzaal M Malik and Conference President Dr Syed Waheed ul Haq briefed the audience about objectives of the conference. The event also featured an Industrial expo, in which around 15 local companies participated and displayed their stalls.
Another event which attracted attention of a large number of students was an undergraduate poster competition that featured posters related to the work of UG engineering students involving modelling and simulation.
It may be mentioned College of EME, is one of the pioneering constituent college of the esteemed National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST); the only Pakistani University to feature in the top three hundred ranking published by Times Higher Education Supplement this year.
College of EME is a perfect blend of civil – military partnership and the faculty is actively involved in projects related in the areas of advanced composites materials for aerospace applications, renewable energy and energy management, radars, unmanned air and ground vehicles, prosthetic limbs, automotive technology, telemedicine applications and indigenous software development for engineering applications.
