Inspector General Police Punjab directs to establish a full-fledged welfare branch on district level

Lahore, November 09, 2016 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has directed to establish a full-fledged welfare branch on district level supervised by an officer of the rank of sub-inspector who will directly report to DPO. Incharge welfare branch will forward cases of the district police officials to Central Police Office without any delay so that welfare funds could be transferred to the concerned Police officials. He further said that the welfare funds should be transferred directly to the bank accounts of Police officials instead of issuing cheque in name of DPO so that they can get the funds without any difficulty and delay.

The IGP directed DIG Welfare to ensure monitoring of welfare branches at district level personally along with keep a close contact with RPOs and DPOs to prevent any delay in police official’s welfare cases. While directing DIG SPU, the IGP directed to allow weekly rest and two leaves per month to the SPU officials. IGP also said that the visit of DSP on daily basis to project check posts should be ensured and on-duty officials, their weapons and bullet-proof jackets should be inspected along with briefing about their duty. He further said, SOPs issued in this regard should be followed in letter and spirit.

Inspector General Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera stated this while chairing a combined meeting of Welfare and Finance, Special Protection Unit, I.T, Operations and Development wings held at Central Police Office on Wednesday. Additional IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations and Investigation Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Commandant PC, Hussain Asghar, DIG Operations Punjab, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG I.T, Shahid Hanif, DIG SPU, Agha Muhammad Yousuf, DIG R and D, Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, DIG Welfare, Waseem Sial, AIG Development, Kamran Khan, AIG Logistics, Humayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz, SSP SPU Syed Mohsin Ali and other senior Police officers also attended the meeting.

While directing Commandant PC, Hussain Asghar, the IGP said that construction of boundary wall of Police Training Centre, Matti Tal, Multan should be completed soon and close circuit cameras and search lights should be installed immediately. Principal and Security Incharges should ensure to check security and to brief Police officials deployed on security duty about the sensitivity of their responsibilities on daily basis. He further said, security officials deployed at O.P check posts should have automatic weapons and binoculars.

Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera also directed Commandant PC to ensure bio-metric attendance of the officials and to put in place an effective system for its monitoring to improve attendance system for all battalions of Punjab Constabulary. IGP also directed Additional IGP Welfare and Finance to complete the project of trackers installation in police vehicles on priority and to establish a dashboard in CPO’s control room by centralizing monitoring mechanism within two weeks.
