Gilgit, April 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): A monthly meeting with the members of the Masajid Board was convened in the Central Police Office which was presided over by IG Police Gilgit-Baltistan Capt (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan. Speaking on the occasion the Police Chief praised the members of Masajid Board for their sincere efforts in fostering a cordial atmosphere in the region which was previously infested with sectarian disharmony and mistrust and said that their role is commendable and exemplary.
He said that implementation on National Action Plan is being carried out without a slight hint of discrimination and the observance of code of conduct for inter faith harmony is positively going on. Speaking about the upcoming election the Police Chief posed his trust on the members of the Masajid Boards and said that with their cooperation and active role the upcoming elections would be held in peaceful atmosphere. He said that inter district postings of the Police Force would be carried out in order to ensure free and fair elections.
The Police Chief revealed that youth of the region would be given a chance to utilize their energies in the Police Youth Forum in order to establish a durable relationship with the general public. The Police Chief also praised the conciliatory role played by the members of the Masajid Board in patching up internecine rivalries among competing segments of society in GB and anticipated their constructive role in putting an end to deadly enmities in Sakwar Gilgit.
He further said that hectic efforts are under way to channelize a coordinated traffic system in Gilgit-Baltistan especially in Gilgit City to effectively regulate the traffic. Members of the Masajid Board expressed their satisfaction over the performance of the Police department and said that a marked change could be observed in that regard and precepts of law are being implemented without any prejudice and favour.
They also emphasized the need to have a watch over the proscribed organizations in the region. The members of the Masajid Board assured the Police Chief about their role to establish durable relations with the Police department and other law enforcing agencies in order to bring prosperity, stability and inter faith harmony in the region.
Those who were present in the meeting on the side of the Masajid Board were Raja Nisar Wali, Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, Mutawali Khan, Wazir Muzafar Abbas, Jafar Ullah Khan, Abid Baig, Sunbul Shah, Syed Nizamuddin, Aslam Advocate, Moulana Maqsood, Hussain Ali Rana, Nisar Ahmad and others and those who represented the Police management were DIG Farooq Azam, SSP Danishwar, SP Mansoor, SP Gilgit Muhammad Ishaq and SP Abdur Rahim.
