Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has directed all police officials to take further effective steps to control crime in the city and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
He stated this while addressing the crime meeting here held to review the progress of various zones and police station. The meeting was attended by AIG (Operations) Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, all four SP, all Sub-Divisional Police Officers, In-Charge ACLC and Station House Officers.
The IGP said that an effective strategy is vital to control crime and also ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offender and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and are still at large. He also directed police officials for strict monitoring of those ever faced imprisonment in car lifting or involvement in other criminal activities.
He categorically asked to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He said those police officials responsible in delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.
The IGP directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following the merit to win the confidence and support of the people for the cops’ department. He stressed for speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit.
“Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion,” the IGP maintained. He said that FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience to the citizens.
The IGP also directed the police officials to be polite with their staff and brief those deputed at the police pickets to keep them alert to avoid any untoward incident. He ordered to ensure effective patrolling to curb vehicles theft and appreciated the measures taken by the officials to curb this crime.
He asked to monitor the activities of those car thieves who had remained jail birds and bust the gangs involved in car theft incidents. The IGP said that street crime has declined in city and further steps are needed to curb it completely.
He also directed SPs of all Zones to personally pursue the progress on the complaints and ensure steps for immediate solution to the problems of the people by remaining personally in touch with them.
The SSP said that Islamabad Police is determined to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and no stone will be leave unturned to accomplish this responsibility.
