Indian police trying to implicate detainee in false case: Gilani

Srinagar, June 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that Indian police is trying to implicate Fayaz Ahmad Talaq, who is illegally detained in Srinagar central jail, in a recent hand grenade attack on Shair Bagh Police Station in Islamabad town.

He said that Fayaz Talaq had been in the jail for the last three years and due to renal infection one of his kidneys was removed four years back.
“Continued detention has badly affected his other kidney and his health has deteriorated to the extent that doctors have suggested specialized treatment. They have even issued a certificate to this effect,” he said.

The veteran leader pointed out that the police was creating impediments in his release and it police had slapped draconian law, Public Safety Act, on him thrice till date on one pretext or the other. He said at a time when family members of Fayaz were hopeful about his release through court orders and preparing for providing him treatment at a hospital in New Delhi, the police was trying to frame fake charges against him. “They are trying to involve him in recent Sher Bagh hand grenade case,” he added.

Syed Ali Gilani said that the top police officials of Islamabad district had been given a free hand to harass pro-freedom activists and common man.

Demanding immediate release of Fayaz, the veteran leader urged the human rights activists to fulfil their responsibilities and come forward to save the life of a sick prisoner. He said that the puppet administration would be responsible if anything untoward happened to Fayaz.
