Srinagar, March 23, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police re-arrested the illegally detained senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Masarrat Aalam Butt, immediately after his release from Baramulla district jail.
Masarrat Aalam Butt was released after bail order was produced to the jail authorities. However, he was immediately re-arrested by a police party from Bandipora in another false case registered against him.
Earlier, the bail, which was upheld by the Session Court Bandipora after rejecting puppet administration’s petition against it, was produced before the authorities of Baramulla district jail.
The JKML Legal Secretary, Shah Riyaz, told mediamen that the jail authorities let the party Chairman go, however a police party from Bandipora police station re-arrested him from the jail premises.
It is to mention here that Masarrat Aalam Butt was arrested in October 2010 for spearheading mass uprising that year. He has been under continued illegal detention since then barring forty days in 2015.
Meanwhile, APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Mazahmat, Bilal Siddiqui, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the re-arrest of Masarrat Aalam Butt and said that he was being subjected to vengeance.
He hailed the commitment and sacrifices rendered by Masarrat Aalam Butt for the freedom movement. He said that arrests and other repressive tactics could not deter the Kashmiris from carrying on their liberation struggle.He also criticized the puppet authorities for continuously placing the APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, under house arrest.
