Srinagar, January 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has castigated the Indian police for implicating the activists of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir (TeH), in fictitious cases to hide its weaknesses.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar referring to the case of TeH worker, Abdul Majeed Lone from Logripora Bomai area of Sopore, emphasised that the police was hell-bent upon implicating the party activists in the killings of panchs and sarpanchs without any evidence.
The veteran leader maintained that the police called TeH worker, Abdul Majeed Lone, arrested him and subjected him to severe torture to confess his involvement in the murder of Sarpanch at Logripora Bomai.
“No doubt the role of panchs and sarpanchs is detrimental for the ongoing movement, but we believe in facing our opponents in a democratic way and we wish them to include in our folds and movement but in a civilized and polite way,’’ he said.
He said that in recent past police had tried to involve Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leader, Nasir Abdullah in the murder of a Sarpanch and later on even the puppet Chief Minister, Omer Abdullah, announced that neither any mujahid nor any political worker was involved in the killing of panchs and sarpanchs.
Syed Ali Gilani while stressing immediate release of Lone said, “The undemocratic and cowardly attitude of police cannot letdown our spirits.” Meanwhile, the veteran leader paid tributes to over 50 martyrs who were killed by Indian troops at Gaw Kadal in Srinagar on January 21, 1990.
