Indian police arrest Zafar Butt in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt during his visit to Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar. Zafar Akbar Butt along with a delegation was in Nowgam to participate in the funeral prayers of some locals. He also visited a local graveyard and offered Fateha for Kashmiri martyrs including Showkat, Muhammad Usman and Hilal Ahmed.

Zafar Butt also addressed a public gathering before his arrest by the police. He was on his way home when a police party intercepted his vehicle and took him into custody. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, while addressing mourners at the residence of martyr Parvaiz Ahmed Butt in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district asked India to shun its aggressive approach on Kashmir. He said New Delhi cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ sentiments and aspirations by adopting iron-fisted policy in the territory.
