Indian army truck kills seven civilians in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, seven civilians were killed after an Indian army truck deliberately hit a vehicle in Srinagar, today. At least seven people were killed and several others were critically injured when an Indian army truck hit a mini-passenger vehicle near Zainakote in Srinagar. The passenger vehicle was on its way from Sopore to Srinagar.

The injured have been shifted to Soura Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar. Doctors at the hospital told mediamen that some of the injured were admitted in a life threatening condition and were being operated upon. Soon after the incident, the locals staged massive anti-India and pro-freedom protests. Indian troops fired gun shots and teargas shells to disperse the angry protesters.

On the other hand, eight people including two policemen are feared dead after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into Chenab River in Kishtwar.

Meanwhile, hundreds of students from various educational institutions, wearing their colourful school uniforms, staged protest demonstrations at Press Enclave in Srinagar, today, against killings in Gaza. The protest rally commenced from Batamaloo and the protesters marched via Jahangir Chowk to Press Enclave in Srinagar.

Chanting pro-Palestine and anti-Israel slogans, the students appealed to the powerful Muslim countries to use their influence to stop the Gaza bloodbath. In Shopian town, hundreds of people holding pro-Gaza and anti-Israel banners staged demonstrations.
