Srinagar, January 12, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that people of Kashmir will not allow India to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a public gathering at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar said that the Kashmiri people would resist tooth and nail any move aimed at changing the demographic composition of the territory, which this time is being done by New Delhi through the judicial route by challenging the state subject law in the Supreme Court of India.
The Mirwaiz said that changing state subject laws would have a direct bearing on the disputed nature of the territory and the Kashmiris’ ongoing movement for right to self-determination. He said that the resistance leadership was keenly watching with concern and would lead the people’s agitation if any move to roll back these provisions was allowed. He said people also have to remain alert and updated on these developments.
The Hurriyat forum Chairman said since the case regarding Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution is coming up for hearing soon, the Joint Resistance Leadership is in touch with all on the matter and is looking at the form of protests that would be observed against it and people will be informed on it very soon. The Article 35-A grants special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and debars non-Kashmiris from purchasing land and property in occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is also patron of Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, released a calendar of historic mosque for 2019.
