Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman says inclusion of Diamer Bhasha project in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will put the area on path of development.
In an interview with PTV on Monday evening, he said that two energy projects of 180 megawatt have also been included in CPEC, along with establishment of several economic zones, which will help alleviate poverty from the region.
He said the Diamer Bhasha and Bunji dams will produce 4600 and 7000 megawatts of electricity respectively and these two projects will link GB with national grid.
He said the production of electricity in Gilgit Baltistan will help government ensure zero load-shedding in the country, because GB needs only 500 megawatt and the surplus energy will certainly be used in rest of the country.
Hafeez-ur-Rehman said that Gilgit-Baltistan is the gateway of CPEC in Pakistan and this mega project will make it the Hub of economic activities.
He said all provincial governments including federal government are on one page regarding the CPEC.
