Lahore, March 12, 2017 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here today chaired a high level meeting in which a delegation led by Chairman Health Impact Committee of Abraaj Group Sir David Nicholson also took part. In the meeting Abraaj Group expressed interest in the cooperation with the Punjab government for improvement in the healthcare system, training of doctors and nurses and coordination for diagnose of diseases. In this regard, the joint committee by the Punjab government and Abraaj Group would present the final recommendations on the future plan in the next few days.
While presiding over the meeting, the Chief Minister said that for quality healthcare facilities we would have to take immediate steps wasting no time. To improve healthcare services was my mission and we considered the cooperation of Abraaj Group with regard, he added. The Chief Minister said that the aim of my government was to serve the ailing humanity and for this we had to work together. For further improvement in the healthcare system, we had to set the targets and ensure their achievement.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has taken the management of ambulance service of hospital from health department and handed it over to Rescue 1122. The Chief Minister said that Punjab was the only province of Pakistan where ambulance services were being run on coordinated system for the first time and with the introduction of new ambulance service system, improvement had been seen in timely shifting of patients to the hospitals.
I am confident that hard work, determination and passion to improve healthcare system will bear fruits one day, he added. The Chief Minister said that training of doctors, nurses and other paramedic staff as per international standards is need of the hour and in this regard, we want to take benefit from the experience and expertise of Abraaj Group.
The Chief Minister said that we had to set the targets for improvement in healthcare system in order to ensure their achievement within a specified period of time. Abraaj Global Healthcare Chief Executive Officer expressed his resolve to work with the Punjab government for improving healthcare system in the province. Abraaj Global Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Khawar Mannan, other experts, Provincial Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, and concerning officials and medical experts were also present on the occasion.
