Srinagar, April 17, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Ummat-e-Islami, Dukhtaran-e-Millat and Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) have demanded immediate release of Handwara girl. Ummat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement in Srinagar quoting party chairman Qazi Yasir who has been under continued detention said, “It’s clear now that the statement of the girl has come under immense pressure. We never expected the statement to be fair as the statement has been given under duress by police in custody. The girl was inhumanely arrested on the first day by the forces and her family was disallowed to meet her or talk to the press.”
The girl should be released immediately and allowed to speak the truth and not give statements under pressure from anyone, he demanded. He condemned the detention of leaders and the imposition of curbs on people. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi in a statement condemned the brutal killing of the innocents in Handwara by the Indian forces.
“In four days, five innocents including a woman were killed in Kashmir. The forces are repeating the same thing over and over again. I strongly condemn the autocracy of the Indian forces,” Aasiya said. A spokesperson for Kashmir Center for Social DCSDS in a statement in Srinagar, said, “KCSDS deplores the detention of the minor-school girl and demands that she should be released forthwith. “Her mother has revealed that the girl gave the statement under pressure. If police have nothing to hide then why have they detained the girl and her family members.”
