Srinagar, March 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Human Rights Commission in occupied Kashmir has issued an advisory in which people have been advised not to wash their eyes in case they feel sensation or irritation because of pepper gas.
The commission in its advisory said, “It is for the information of general public that whoever feels sensation or irritation of pepper gas in his or her eyes must avoid washing his or her eyes with water.”
“As per the experts, the contents of pepper gas are not soluble in water, rather use of water will be detrimental for the eyes and for the vision,” it added.
The commission is hearing petitions into the three deaths relating to pepper gas, used by police on protesters.
Indian police and paramilitary forces make an excessive use of pepper gas to quell anti-India protest demonstrations which have broken out in length and breadth of the territory since the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9.
