Srinagar, April 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): The High Court of occupied Kashmir has granted two days to the authorities to file objections in a petition, filed by senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Shabbir Ahmad Shah, seeking his release from the jail.
Justice Hasnain Massodi issued the directives after Deputy Advocate General N H Shah volunteered to file the response to the petition by April 4. The court directed to list the case on Friday.
The court also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar to produce record through the Deputy Advocate General regarding the arrest of Shabbir Shah on the next date of hearing.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah was arrested by police from his Santnagar residence some four hours before Afzal Guru was hanged in Tihar Jail on February 9. He was first lodged in Srinagar Central Jail and month later shifted to Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu.
In the petition filed by his wife, Dr Bilquees through advocate Mir Shafqat Hussain, Shah seeks quashing of the detention order passed against him by Executive Magistrate. The petitioner has demanded Shah’s immediate release.
