Hurriyet leaders, organizations denounce arrests in IOK

Srinagar, February 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, the forum led by veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, Jamaat-e-Islami, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Voice of Victims and APHC leaders Musaddiq Aadil and Javed Ahmad Mir have strongly condemned the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists by the Indian authorities to prevent protest demonstrations and rallies on the martyrdom anniversaries of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

A spokesman for the APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar while condemning the arrests and raids on houses of Hurriyet leaders and activists said that the authorities would not succeed to break the Kashmiris’ will for freedom through such tactics.

The forum led by the veteran leader, in a statement in Srinagar, described the hanging of two martyred leaders as a bolt on India’s democracy. It demanded the immediate release of all detained leaders and activists.

Jamaat-e-Islami Spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali said that India trampled under feet canons of justice democratic rules by sending Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru to the gallows.

Hizbul Mujahideen Supreme Commander, Syed Salahuddin addressing a prayer meeting said that the two gallant had sacrificed their lives but did not compromise on their noble cause.

The Voice of Victims in its statement described the India’s refusal to hand over the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru as the worst kind of human rights violations.

APHC leaders, Musaddiq Aadi and Javed Ahmad Mir said that the puppet regime patronized by India had caged whole the occupied territory by deploying tens of hundreds troops of paramilitary forces and police on roads and streets of Kashmir.
