Srinagar, April 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the APHC will soon launch a people-to-people contact to prevent pro-India parties from deceiving people on hollow promises.
The APHC Chairman in a media interview after the Executive Council meeting in Srinagar said the Hurriyet has been institutionalized and re-structured as various committees have been formed to reach out to people with the political agenda. The meeting was chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq himself.
“The meeting evolved a consensus that there is a need to institutionalize the Hurriyet and to re-structure it as well. We took some important steps like forming committees that include provincial coordination committee, committee on human rights and legal committee. Many other committees were formed that would work at district and tehsil levels,” he added.
The APHC Chairman said for the first time the members of the Hurriyet’s General Council will be heading the committees that would have members from the Executive Council. “The Hurriyet will now work as an institution and a joint team.”
He said the “major motive behind forming various committees is to reach out to people and to bridge the gap.”
“We will go to people across Kashmir with the Hurriyet’s political agenda. We won’t allow the pro-India parties to lure people on hollow promises like revocation of draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act,” the Mirwaiz said.
The senior APHC leader, Prof Abdul Ghani Butt said the move was purely aimed at rejuvenating the Hurriyet. “The move is aimed to develop a sense of belonging among the masses. Let us see what people feel on ground,” Butt added.
