Lahore, August 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): To mutually decide a roadmap for the improvement and reinforcement of economic relations between Hungary and Pakistan, a diplomatic delegation comprising of the high-ups of Hungarian Embassy visited Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).
The delegation was led by Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan H.E. Istevan Szabo. Other members included, the Commercial Attache Embassy of Hungary Islamabad Mr. Istvan Kovacs, Counsellor at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary Mr. Mihalko Sandor and Honourary Consul General Mr. Mehtab Muhi-Ud-Din.
Chief Executive Officer PBIT, Mr. Habib-Ur-Rehman Gilani appreciated the relentless efforts of H.E. Istevan Szabo for the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries and conveyed his gratitude for visiting PBIT. They discussed various sectors of investment particularly Energy, Education, Agriculture and Livestock, Pharmaceutical sector, Research and Technology, Real Estate and Infrastructure Development.
A brief presentation on the trade and investment relations of Hungary and Pakistan was given by PBIT team member with a special emphasis on the potential areas of collaboration. H.E. Istevan Szabo informed about the recent initiatives of Embassy of Hungary for the improvement of trade relations and said that people-to-people contact, cultural exchanges and frequent diplomatic interactions are crucial to strengthen the economic ties.
Further to H.E. Istevan Szabo’s comment Mr. Habib-Ur-Rehman Gilani proposed that a ceremony may be organized to celebrate 15 years of diplomatic relations between Hungary and Pakistan in Lahore and businessmen from both sides be invited. He also said that country specific trade and investment promotion events and business delegation exchanges are the best ways to develop business linkages and to win confidence of the business community.
