HR bodies asked to play role in release of Sopori’s house

Srinagar, February 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has appealed to human rights organizations to take notice of seizure of residential house of pro-freedom leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori by the occupation authorities.

The forum spokesman, Ayaz Akbar in a statement issued in Srinagar, said, “The house of Sopori was sealed on 30th June 2012 by the authorities and since then he and his family are living a miserable life.”

Sopori had constructed the house on a 5-malara plot at Chanapora area and the authorities seized it some two and a half years ago, the spokesman added. The said house was also affected by the recent floods and the owner had sought permission from the court for its repair but he has not received any instructions in this regard,” Ayaz Akbar deplored.
