Islamabad, December 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): ‘Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation is on way to become modern multi-media organization like BBC‚ VOA‚ Deutsche Welle and others.’
Addressing a function organized in his honor by PBC CBA union at Broadcasting House in Islamabad‚ Director General PBC Murtaza Solangi said the organization achieved landmark achievements over the past four years and is now recognized as authentic source of information both locally and internationally. ‘It is due to image-building of Radio Pakistan that ambassadors of important countries like US‚ China‚ and others spare time to express their views through this organization‚’ he added.
Radio Pakistan has the distinction of running bilingual website besides live streaming its programmes. Radio Pakistan now has readers and viewers besides its traditional audience. He informed that after the completion of ‘Satellite Earth Station’‚ the broadcasts of Radio Pakistan will be available across the globe. The people will also be able to enjoy programmes on cable in the country.
He said we are focusing to replace aging transmitters and a 100 kilowatt transmitter is being inaugurated at Larkana on 27th of this month. A 500 kilometer transmitter is being installed at Faqirabad with JAICA’s assistance. New transmitters are also being installed at Peshawar and D.I Khan. These measures will help reviving the lost glory of Radio Pakistan.
Referring to demands of PBC workers‚ the Director General said workers still working on contract will be regularized. He assured that the housing scheme announced by the Prime Minister for Radio employees will be finalized within the remaining tenure of the present government.
He exhorted the workers to come up to the expectations of the nation as over three billion rupees are being spent on organization from tax payers’ money.
Technical Advisor‚ Mujaded Sheikh briefed the PBC workers about technical progress made by the organization over the past four and a half years.
Secretary General CBA Union‚ Ijaz Ahmed thanked the government and Director General for regularizing 661 employees and taking the union onboard in decision-making.
