Housing Minister suspends officials

Islamabad, April 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): While taking briefing of the Estate Office, the Minister of State for Housing and Works Barrister Usman Ibrahim took serious notice of an irregularity and poor performance of few officials and ordered to suspend them with immediate effect.

It was briefed by the Estate Officer that House no.35, Cat-II, G-10/2, Islamabad has been occupied by an officer above of his entitlement on the basis of cancelled/invalid allotment letter dated 30.03.2010. It was pointed out that Mr. Khurram Mumtaz Awan, Assistant Director (BS-17) Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) presently working on attachment basis as Joint Estate Officer (BS-17) Estate Office, Islamabad was involved in the said corrupt practice.

He has been placed under suspension as per letter no. 1852/DS(A)/2014 and disciplinary action will be initiated against him under the relevant rules. The second official was Mr. Sohail Haider Shah, LDC Estate Office, Islamabad who was also suspended as per letter no. F.1(1)/2014/EO-233 under Government Servant (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules 1973 for a period of three months with immediate effect on account of his involvement in unauthorized /irregular occupation of House No. 35, Cat-II, G-10/2, Islamabad by Dr. Abdul Wali Khan, Assistant Dental Surgeon, PIMS.

Mr. Sohail Khan, Sub Engineer (civil), Central Civil Division no. VIII, Pak PWD, Islamabad has also been found involved in misconduct, corruption and corrupt practices in the issuance of bogus vacation/ occupation report of House No. 35, and placed under suspension with immediate effect for a period of three months as per letter no. All-713/772(1242).

Mr. Fayyaz Ahmad, inquiry Officer, Pak PWD, Islamabad has also been found an accomplice in the above mentioned malpractice and placed under suspension with immediate effect for a period of three months as per letter no. EE/CCD-VIII/E-2/561.

Moreover, the Minister directed to held departmental inquiry against them and if these officials are found guilty then their case will be referred to the concerned agency. The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary Housing and works, Deputy Secretary (Estate), Director General Pak-PWD, Estate Officer and other concerned officials of the Ministry.
