Srinagar, August 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a Kashmiri truck driver and a conductor were injured while another trucker was stripped off Rs 28,000 by Hindu rioters in Samba district. Kashmiri truckers were heading towards home from Delhi when a mob of Hindu rioters attacked them in outskirts of Samba town.
“The rioters had assembled along the Srinagar-Jammu Highway and were targeting the vehicles bearing number plates of the Kashmir Valley. They smashed our vehicles and beat us ruthlessly,” said one of the truck drivers, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Tangwani area of Shopian.
He said that he was carrying Rs 28,000 in cash. “The rioters snatched the money from me. My conductor was hit on forehead with a sharp edged weapon and received three stitches,” he added.
The injured conductor has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Khanday of Pinjoora, Shopian. Another driver injured in rioters’ attack in Samba has been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Mir of Pinjoora, Shopian. He sustained head injury. The truckers said that they feared for their lives and did not register an FIR against the rioters.
