Islamabad, October 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar will arrive in Cairo today as a special envoy of the President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari to deliver a message of felicitations to the first ever democratically -elected President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Mohamad Morsi. She will hand over the special message of congratulations of his Pakistani counterpart on assuming the highest office. Says the press release received here today from Cairo.
According to the press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan, here today, the visiting special envoy will also convey the personal invitation of the President of Pakistan to President Mr. Mohamed Morsi to attend the D-8 (Developing Eight) Summit scheduled for 19-21 November 2012 at Islamabad. President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his keen interest in inviting his Egyptian counterpart to the summit. Both the leaders will meet at Islamabad to discuss the strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar will also meet her Egyptian counterpart Mr. Mohamed Kamel Amr to discuss the ongoing bilateral relations between the two countries. Both Egypt and Pakistan enjoy decades old, cordial and brotherly political, economic, military and cultural relations since the inception of Pakistan in 1947. Both the leaders will also discuss the forthcoming Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting and the ways to further augment the brotherly relations between the two countries. They are also expected to address a joint press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tomorrow.
During her sojourn, the Pakistani Foreign Minister will meet the Secretary General of the Arab League Mr. Nabil Elaraby to discuss the stance of Pakistan on various international and regional issues of the Arab world.
It is pertinent to mention that a delegation of Egyptian businessmen and entrepreneurs will also attend the D-8 Summit at Islamabad to explore new investment opportunities in the growing Pakistani economy. The D-8 is a group of developing countries with large Muslim populations that have formed an economic development alliance. It consists of Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The visit has been termed a ‘significant’ by the Egyptian media and defense analysts by any Pakistani leader to the post-revolution Egypt.
