Karachi, October 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that KMC and all towns had given final shape to the arrangements for removal of offal and waste and cleanliness on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. Machinery and vehicles were kept in order whereas the details and other arrangements for offal collection points and contact numbers of complaints centers will be informed through the newspapers.
He said this while chairing a meeting in connection with the preparations for Eid-ul-Azha. The meeting was attended by the Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Senior Director Municipal Services Dr. Shaukat Zaman, all town administrators, chief town officers and other high officials.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion directed to keep all the concerned departments active and perform this important duty in an excellent manner. He said due to huge number of sacrifices of animals, large scale arrangements for maintenance of cleanliness and lifting and disposal of offal and waste was required in all three days of Eid. The KMC would provide additional machinery and vehicles to towns for this purpose and all the city wardens would be on duty during Eid-ul-Azha.
Administrator Karachi said to the town’s heads that a comprehensive plan was made for lifting and burial of offal and other waste. He also appealed to the citizens of Karachi to cooperate with the town administration to ensure cleanliness during Eid-ul-Azha in their areas.
The Administrator further said a central complaints cell had also been set up by the Municipal Services Department where citizens could lodge their complaints. He said soon all major corridors would be cleaned with the help of mechanical sweeping machinery.
