Islamabad, April 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for planning, Development and Reform, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, gave the guideline for Public Sector Development Projects for the next fiscal year while chairing the meeting of Secretaries of all Federal Ministries to discuss various issues related to PSDP projects.
The Minister said, “Availability of inadequate resources, demands us to priorities our development work on the basis of urgency of need and throughput of the projects. Considering the current scenario, energy and food security related projects are government’s top priority, then human development related projects and such infrastructure development projects which are the part of regional connectivity plans, such as Pak-China Economic Corridor related projects, are on government’s priority”.
The federal Minister further said, “Those ongoing projects which are in their final stage of completion are also being treated as priority projects and they will be completed in the next two fiscal years. Moreover, such projects which have the outcome of value addition related to production sector are also on our priority to boast export of Pakistan.”
Federal Minister directed the secretaries of all ministries to submit all projects with clearly defined outcomes and deliverables to identify high impact projects till this Friday. He said that monitoring and evaluation of PSDP projects have been absent in past but current government gives prime significance to monitoring, and evaluation because government consider itself accountable for every single penny it spends.
Federal Minister further directed CAD to arrange for the Science and IT labs in each and every high school in the federal capital during the next fiscal year and take steps to achieve 100% literacy in the federal capital of Pakistan.
