Islamabad: The High Commissioner of Pakistan Syed Hasan Javed called on the Speaker of Singapore Parliament H.E. Mr. Michael Palmer. He delivered message of felicitation from Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker of Pakistan National Assembly on the election of Mr. Michael Palmer.
The High Commissioner highlighted the existing cordial relations between the two countries and expressed his desire to further strengthen these relations, says a press release received here today from Singapore.
The High Commissioner highlighted opportunities of cooperation between Pakistan and Singapore which exist in many areas including investment in knowledge industry, human resource and agriculture. He underlined that Pakistan might become the provider of long term food security to ASEAN region.
He also underlined the need to increase the number of Pakistani students in Singapore. He invited the Singapore education institutions to open their branches in Pakistan.
The High Commissioner informed the Speaker about the vibrant parliamentary system in Pakistan and the important role of women parliamentarians in Pakistani Parliament.
His Excellency Mr. Michael Palmer the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore thanked the Speaker of Pakistan for her message of felicitation on his election. He welcomed the High Commissioner and reciprocated his desire to bring new strength to the existing relations between the two countries.
He suggested that areas of collaboration could be explored in agro-food industry, telecommunications, human resources and many other areas particularly between the small and medium enterprises.
