Karachi, May 18, 2016 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that nurses, midwives, lady health visitors and vaccinators are back bone of health delivery system and we are trying to build a better individual monitoring and evaluation system to get desired results in collaboration with USAID’s Mission and for the purpose, reasonable packages are under consideration for health care service providers. This he said while presiding over a meeting with USAID’s Mission here in Sindh Secretariat.
USAID’s Mission Team Leader Ms Monica, Deputy Director Carrie Rasmussen, Secretary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo and DG Health Hassan Murad Shah also attended the meeting. He suggested that for capacity building purpose short courses for medical staff in terms of preventive health care should be initiated and to address the issue of acute malnutrition was the need of the hour and operational budget would be increased in coming budget.
USAID team leader also suggested to re-organize DG Health office in terms of strengthening of human resources, technical and logistic support and coordination so that the effect of service delivery system might be improved. Both sides agreed upon to improve coordination between Sindh Health Department and USAID to provide better health facilities to the mother and newly born children.
The minister added , ‘ Health department in collaboration with USAID has provided 550 motorbikes to 11 low performing districts and he requested to USAID Mission to provide atleast 350 jeeps for Tharparkar, Khairpur, Shahdadkot and Jamshoro for LHW program to revitalize and strengthen its community based Family Planning and Primary Health Care services. They also agreed to focus at districts because these were implementing units and they needed reliable information system.
