Islamabad, September 27, 2016 (PPI-OT):Corruption is a common issue, hampering the economic growth of the countries. Corruption and money laundering are the important, issues being faced by third world countries, having limited resources for development, said the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali while welcoming the heads of SAARC Anti Corruption Agencies.
The delegation comprised Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman, National Accountability Bureau, Pakistan, Mrs. Kinley Yangzom, Deputy, High Office of Anti-Corruption (ACC), Bhutan, Shri Premanshu Biswas, Director, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), India, Mr. Hassan Luthfee, President, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Maldives, Mr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, Commissioner, the Commission of Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Nepal and Justice T.B Weerasuriya, Chairman, Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Sri Lanka. They called on Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan in Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad today.
Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan further added that he is sanguine that the seminar would enhance the cooperation in SAARC countries and reach out conclusion to evolve strategies and methodologies to curb and control the menace of corruption at regional level. His lordship also briefed the delegates about anti-corruption laws in Pakistan and appreciated the role and efforts of National Accountability Bureau to deal with the corruption cases. The delegates also and shared their experiences and briefed his lordship about the strategies being implemented in their countries to fight corruption.
Earlier, Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB, thanked the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan for sparing time for them, and briefed his lordship about the SAARC Nations Seminar on Anti Corruption being organized by NAB in Pakistan from September 26 – 27, 2016 to enhance regional cooperation to deal with corruption. He presented souvenir to Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan as token of respect and gesture of goodwill. His lordship also extended his thanks and good wishes to the delegates.
