Amman (IINA) Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi called on the United Nations to play its role in the implementation of international resolutions against those who are trying to hinder peace efforts in Yemen.
During a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the Arab Summit, held in Jordan on Wednesday, President Hadi praised UN’s position in supporting the desire of the Yemeni people for change and the adoption of a comprehensive national dialogue as a peaceful way to achieve the aspired change.
Hadi stressed the need to redouble the efforts of international organizations to support the Yemenis in the field of humanitarian relief. He pointed out that the putschist militias continue to ransack the humanitarian aid, including food items and medical supplies and sell them on the black market to finance their war against the people of Yemen.
For his part, Guterres said the UN stands by the Yemeni people to overcome their ordeal and that it supports the dialogue efforts, on the basis of specified references in cooperation with all parties. He also voiced regret over the humanitarian situation in Yemen, resulting from the consequences of the war waged by the militias.
