Guru’s family to renew call for return of mortal remains

Srinagar, March 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the family of Mohammad Afzal Guru, who was executed and buried at Tihar Jail, last month, contemplates to renew its call for return of his mortal remains to perform his last rites. Mohammad Yasin, cousin of Afzal Guru, in a media interview said, “In a day or two we may write to Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla reminding him of our request to return the body of Mohammad Afzal Guru for the last rites.”

He said that the Guru family had decided to abide by the calls extended by Muttahida Majlis-e-Mashawarat (MMM), a representative forum of pro-liberation organisations.

It may be recalled that MMM has been spearheading the campaign to press for the return of the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail to Kashmir.
