Mumbai, December 25, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson son of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Ambedkar, has warned India against execution of the Kashmiri youth, Afzal Guru, saying his martyrdom will raise ripples in the north-eastern states of India, which are already hit by insurgency. Prakash, who heads the Bharatiya Republican Paksha-Bahujan Mahasangh in a media interview in Mumbai said that the sentence would provide a similar rallying point to the Hurriyet leadership as Bhagat Singh’s execution at the hands of the British had provided to the Indian people in the freedom struggle. Besides, the death penalty could spark demand for the referendum in Kashmir, he added.
Prakash Ambedkar said that the execution of Guru would provide the Hurriyet a chance to tell its people that the Kashmiri youth had fallen victim to the pro-Hindutva India and would ask people whether “they want to stay in a Hindutva dominated India.” “There is no need to execute (the sentence), let him stay in jail,” Prakash added, stressing that “rational behaviour is more important than emotional behaviour.”
