Karachi, March 02, 2016 (PPI-OT):Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) has the distinction and privilege to be the first University in the field of law in Pakistan and as such it is a milestone in the education of Law and would benefit the students pursuing professional career as Lawyers. SZABUL has progressed very rapidly after its foundation in 2013.
This he said during his visit to the Clifton campus of SZABUL here today. Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Law Barrister Murtuza Wahab, Advisor to Governor Sindh for Higher Education Syed Wajahat Ali, Vice Chancellor SZABUL Professor Qazi Khalid Ali were also present on the occasion.
Governor Sindh further said that our province have always produced most devoted, dedicated and eminent Lawyers, many of whom later became able and renowned judges and it is hoped that with the establishment of a proper Law University, even more distinguished and illustrious Lawyers and Judges would emerge and make their country proud, as the university has also started PhD classes.
Dr Ebad said that a newly enacted institution has to face numerous problems to properly establish itself and only hard work and dedicated efforts can resolve its difficulties. Same has been the case with SZABUL and as it has been informed the University’s management is tackling various issues with utmost devotion and commitment, he added.
Governor Sindh said that the proposal to open campuses of SZABUL in Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana was very appreciable and efforts should be made to implement the same as soon as possible. The pace of work at Ibraheem Hyderi campus of the University should be expedited, he directed.
Governor Sindh said that the matter of affiliation of law colleges of the province with SZABUL should also be given utmost priority and all stake holders should be taken on board on urgent basis. He directed for further strengthening the University’s Library and providing specially reference books to facilitate the students. Dr Ebad also inspected Computer Lab and met his students and asked about their studies.
The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Qazi Khalid informed Governor Sindh that first semester has been completed while more than 300 students are presently enrolled in SZABUL. He further informed that the main campus of SZABUL is being established in Ibrahim Hyderi with an estimated cost of Rs. 1148.178 million.
An amount of Rs. 125 has also been earmarked in current year ADP, while its boundary wall has been completed. Qazi Khalid Ali commended the cooperation of Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Advisor Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab in timely release of fund for the University.
