Karachi: Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that construction and development work in city underway speedily.About four and a half kilometre long phase-I of Mausamyat Road was completed with a cost of Rs167million while renovation and betterment work of Safari Park was also being done that includes the setting up of enclosure for elephants and peacocks, a bird aviary and establishment of a modern library for studies about the animals and birds.
He said this on a detailed visit of Mausamyat Road and Safari Park Karachi on Saturday where he was accompanied by Provincial Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Minister for Health Sindh Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Minister for Industries Sindh Rauf Siddiqui, Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed, Senior Director Sports and Culture Muhammad Rehan Khan and Director Safari Park Salman Shamsi. Governor Sindh on this occasion directed to provide more facilities to citizens in Safari Park including better security with the help of CCTV Cameras.
He said that Karachi Safari should be developed as a well standard safari like they did in other countries. Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed informed him that Safari Park was established in 1970 on a 300 acres piece of land where more than 500 animals were kept in natural conditions while the eleven enclosures also have natural conditions for various species of animals. He further said that over 200 technical workers were deputed in this park.
The decade old fountain and water fall were also restored with better lighting arrangements inside Safari Park. All these measures have resulted in lot of citizens visiting the park. Administrator Karachi said that very soon more new animals and birds including giraffe, hippopotamus, rhino, tiger and other animals. He said that rare species of birds would be kept in the bird’s aviary. Governor of Sindh directed that immediate consultancy and complete plan for up gradation of Karachi Safari should be arranged so that this could be developed according to the international standards.
