Karachi: Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that the Rs285million worth Hub River Road was an important highway linking Sindh province with Balochistan. Timely construction and repairing of this highway should be ensured.
He expressed these views on a visit of Hub River Road. Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed, Director General Technical Services Altaf G.Memon, MNA Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, MPA Haneef Shaikh and other high officials accompanied him on this visit. Governor Sindh said eight new projects were being launched in Karachi which will be completed within scheduled time.
He also inspected the carpeting of Hub River Road and the material utilized in its construction and said that this road was used by heavy 28 wheelers and that’s why special engineering and material was used in its construction. The completion of Hub River Road in next two months would solve the old traffic jam problem on this road.
Administrator Karachi while giving a briefing to Governor about the project said that the carpeting of 6 km portion of Hub River Road would provide considerable convenience to vehicles plying on this road. 50 percent of development work has been completed. The three lane highway has a length of 6.675km and 10.5 meter width.
New Jersey barriers will be installed in the central median and a total of six u turns will be given to provide more ease to traffic. He said that construction of this road would enable vehicles to drive with 60km per hour speed.
Governor of Sindh directed to provide alternate route on the sites of roads construction and prompt removal of any construction waste. He said that improvement was seen in the development works and the impending local government system would be in better interest of the province and country.
