Karachi: Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan inaugurated a park in Block-N , North Nazimabad on Monday. The park which spreads over 13 acres land had been named after renowned ghazal singer Mehdi Hasan. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mehdi Hasan, his son Arif Hussain, his daughter in law and brother Nisar Mehdi while the federal minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghouri, Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed, MPA Abdul Moeed Farooqui, Municipal Commissioner KMC Matanat Ali Khan, Administrator DMC Central Nazir Lakhani, other officers and actor Umer Sharif, Salahuddin Tinu, Adnan Jilani, singer Ghulam Abbas, Tabassum Warsi, Arif Ansari, GM PTV Mustafa Mandokhel, Program Manager PTV Zartaj Ali, Program Manager Radio Pakistan Agha Muhammad Ali were also present on this occasion. Governor of Sindh while paying tribute to great services rendered by Mehdi Hasan for his country said that he was an asset for our country and therefore no stone should be left unturned in providing him best of medical treatment.
He also presented a cheque for Rs1million as financial assistance to Mehdi Hasan. Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said KMC would name important roads, corridors, parks and playgrounds after renowned personalities from fine arts, artists, writers, painters and poets.
He said these people were known as ambassadors of our country, especially Mehdi Hasan who was recognized as a Pakistani singer everywhere where the locals understand and speak urdu. Mehdi Hasan’s son Arif Hussain thanked Governor of Sindh and said that the Governor had always supported and patronize the people belonged to the field of fine arts.
