Karachi: Quick Response Centres (QRCs) should immediately be set up beneath the flyovers at the main thoroughfares in the metropolis. This was directed by the Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, here on Wednesday.
He said that the deployment of ambulances, fire tenders and personnel of Rangers and police be also ensured at these centres which should be connected with the Command and Control centre so that in case of any accident prompt first aid be provided to the injured and the crimes be checked.
Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan was presiding over a high level meeting at the Governor House here on Wednesday. The meeting considered the setting up of QRCs at the available space beneath the flyovers in the city.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Naushad Shaikh, Inpector General of Police Sindh Mushtaq Shah, Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Muhammad Hussain Syed, Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Shaikh, Municipal Commissioner, Amanat Ali Khan, representative of Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Chief of Citizens Police Liaison Committee, Ahmed Chinoy.
The Governor was of the view that in Karachi at least 50 QRCs should be activated and that this would help foster sense of security among the people. He further stated that in the first phase 10 model QRCs should be established.
The Administrator Karachi apprised the Governor of the first centre set up beneath the Nagan Chowrangi Flyover. He said that ambulance service, wireless set and internal monitoring system has been made available at this centre.
