Lahore, April 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): Governor Punjab Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood has promised to curtail load shedding from April 24th. The promise was made by the Governor Punjab while talking to the Chairman of Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Malik Tahir Javed in a meeting held in Governors House here on Tuesday.
Governor Punjab said that he was well aware with the troubles being faced by the business doing people due to electricity load shedding and making out his all efforts to resolve the issue. He urged the PIAF Chairman to forward a set of proposal to improve law and order situation.
He said that issues of business community would be eliminated on priority basis as business community was the backbone of the economy.
Earlier, Chairman PIAF Malik Tahir Javed informed the Governor Punjab that industrial production was at the lowest ebb due to horrible electricity and gas load shedding and industrialists have left with no other option but to close down their industrial units.
PIAF Chairman said that gas consumption at domestic level registered a clear decline due to change in weather but still industrial sector was being given only 3-day a week gas that was a sheer injustice.
He said that exporters were unable to fultil their export orders. He said that country has already lose a big share of international market to its rivals like China, Indian and Bangladesh and if situation remains same, circumstances would be further dired.
While welcoming the assurance of reduction in load shedding, PIAF Chairman termed it a good omen but urged the policy makrers to solve the energy crisis on sustainable basis to get rid of the economic worries.
Malik Tahir Javed said that country has immense potential to generate hunrdred thousands MW electricity through coal, wind, solar and hydel resources. He said that had a little attention been give towards the mega power projects, the electricity situation today would have been quite satisfactory.
