Islamabad, November 06, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Education and Trainings, Sheikh Waqqas Akram announced on Tuesday that the Government of Pakistan on 10th December, 2012 in collaboration with UNESCO will hold a high level advocacy event in Paris to launch global initiative titled “Stand Up for Malala, Stand Up for Girls’ Right to Education’.
Addressing a joint press conference along with Country Representative of UNESCO Dr. Nagatha here at Committee Room of the Ministry, he said President Asif Ali Zardari will grace this occasion alongwith high level dignitaries, celebrities and scholars of repute from all over the world.
Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said that Pakistan is fully committed to the cause of education. He outlined the sacrifices and commitment of the people and Government of Pakistan to promote girl’s education. He added that both Pakistan and UNESCO are making joint efforts in this regard.
Later on the Minister answered to the queries raised by journalists. Country Representative of UNESCO, Dr. Nagatha assured her support and pledged to work with the Government of Pakistan. She said Pakistan is very important member of UNESCO and always fully participated in all international efforts for promoting noble cause of education. She affirmed the full support of UNESCO in the up-coming event.
