Srinagar, November 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, have paid glowing tributes to noted journalist, Ved Bhasin, who recently passed away in Jammu. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Ved Bhasin was a fearless, bold, realistic, an independent journalist and a liberal politician.
My relation with Ved Bhasin dates back to the Mujahid Manzil when he used to come to late Moulana Masoodi and I used to listen their conversations like a student. Despite being of the same age, I always treated Ved Bhasin as my big brother.” Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in his statement issued in Islamabad, while paying tribute to Ved Bhasin, said that occupied Kashmir had lost a writer of great patriotic fervour and a seasoned journalist, who would always live in the hearts of people and history of journalism in Kashmir.
He said that Ved Bhasin was a sincere advocate of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. He said that Bhasin’s death was a great loss for his family, friends and lovers and hoped that they would bear it with patience and courage; and his successors would always keep the candle of free journalism burning in the territory.
